Established in 2012 on Main Street in historic downtown Littleton, Altitude Paddleboards was the first SUP-dedicated retail location to open in Colorado. Our store is close to premier South Metro lake and river SUP destinations, including Chatfield State Park, Bear Creek Lake Park, and the South Platte River.
How did we get here?
Husband and wife John (JB) and Nancy’s partnership in the pursuit of water sports began in 1983 when they met as rafting guides on the Trinity River in Humboldt County, CA. They proceeded to become “weekend kayak warriors” in Humboldt County and the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the next several years, they boated nearly all of the Sierra rivers, surfed in Santa Cruz, and took kayaking trips to Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and the Grand Canyon. A move to Honolulu, HI in 1992 ushered in an 11-year beach life surfing the reef breaks of Oahu and the outer islands while raising their two daughters. In 2003, the mainland called and the couple relocated to Denver, CO, where stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) was just starting to emerge. They quickly fell in love with the sport, and started Altitude Paddleboards as a way to share their lifelong infatuation with water sports in a more accessible way.
Where are we now?
Since 2004, stand-up paddleboarding has rapidly grown to become one the most accessible water sports in the world. Altitude Paddleboards is proud to offer a vast array of boards, paddles, and accessories for sale and to rent, as well as introductory, SUP yoga, and river SUP classes every summer.
